Do Not Be Anxious

An unsettled mind can make it difficult to sleep well. Poor sleep can, in turn, affect our wellbeing, mood and productivity.

As you come to the end of the day, there may be things on your mind that are making it difficult to settle down.

Something that happened today.
Something you need to deal with tomorrow.
A decision you need to make.
A situation you don’t know how to resolve.

Tonight, instead of carrying those thoughts into the night, take them to God. Pray about them. Make your requests known to God. Tell Him what is bothering you. Tell Him what you need. And as you pray, remember the things you can be thankful for.

Simply be still.

Meditate on: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

Reflect

  • What is making me anxious tonight?
  • Have I taken this to God?
  • What can I thank God for, even in this situation?

Release

Take deep breaths, close your eyes, and visualize yourself handing your concerns to God.

Then remind yourself that:

  • You have prayed about it.
  • God has heard you.
  • You can rest.

Then let the peace of God guard your heart and mind as you lie down to sleep.

Have a good night.
